The 28th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Group of the Section for Parliamentary and Political Party Archives and Archivists of the International Council on Archives (SPP/ICA) will be held from May 27 to 29, 2026, at the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias.
As part of this event, Pablo García Mexía will speak on Wednesday, May 27, presenting the paper “Guidelines for the Use of AI in the Senate: General Orientation and Main Challenges,” which focuses on the legal, organizational, and practical challenges posed by the incorporation of artificial intelligence in the parliamentary sphere.
The session will address issues related to AI governance, legal certainty, institutional transparency, and the responsible use of these technologies in the documentary and administrative processes of parliamentary institutions.
The annual meeting of the Spanish SPP/ICA Group will bring together representatives from various parliaments and institutions to discuss artificial intelligence, document preservation, data management, archival heritage, and digital transformation in the parliamentary sphere.
Participation in this forum provides an opportunity to continue fostering rigorous reflection on the impact of artificial intelligence on public institutions and on the need to develop models for technology adoption that are compatible with the principles of legality, accountability, and democratic quality.
