On April 17, 2026, legal scholar and digital law expert Pablo García Mexía participated in the conference “The Law in the Face of AI and Digital Technologies,” organized by the Advisory Council of La Rioja in Logroño.
The event, held in the Príncipe de Vergara Hall, brought together leading legal experts to reflect on the challenges that artificial intelligence poses to the law, both from a regulatory standpoint and in terms of its impact on legal practice.
The conference was opened by representatives of the Advisory Council and featured three keynote presentations. First, Tomás de la Quadra-Salcedo addressed the transformation of the law in the face of technology from the perspective of rights and freedoms. Next, Moisés Barrio Andrés analyzed the role of artificial intelligence as a national project and its relevance to the advisory function.
For his part, Pablo García Mexía delivered a lecture titled “Regulating the Digital and AI in Times of Technological Fear. Reasons for a Reassessment,” in which he offered a reflection on current regulatory approaches in a context marked by technological acceleration and growing social concern surrounding AI.
The event took place against a backdrop in which artificial intelligence and digital technologies not only serve as tools for legal professionals but also pose significant regulatory challenges and compel us to rethink traditional legal institutions.
Through initiatives such as this one, the Advisory Council of La Rioja is fostering legal debate on one of today’s major challenges: adapting the law to a constantly evolving technological landscape.
