Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has published a new briefing on the Guides issued by the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA) to support compliance with the European Artificial Intelligence Act.
The publication analyses the 16 guides developed within the framework of Spain’s AI regulatory sandbox, conceived as practical, non-binding tools to help organisations implement the obligations arising from the Regulation.
The document covers, among other matters, the introductory guides on the general framework of the Regulation, the specialised technical guides applicable to high-risk AI systems, and the checklist manual designed to help organisations carry out a self-assessment of their level of compliance.
The issues covered include conformity assessment, quality management systems, risk management, data governance, transparency, human oversight, accuracy, robustness, cybersecurity, technical documentation, post-market monitoring and serious incident reporting.
The publication underlines the importance of moving from a general understanding of the European Artificial Intelligence Act to its operational implementation through concrete procedures, controls and responsibilities within organisations.
